First Aid for Minor Injuries : How to Treat a Cut With First Aid

Throughout the course of daily life we’re
all going to receive some type of minor injuries. Hi I’m Captain Joe Bruni and what I’m going
to talk about is how to treat the minor cut with first aid. Minor cuts can occur in several
various places on the body. The first step would be to control the bleeding. Using some
type of gauze or sterile pad that’s designed for such purposes is the first step. Place
the sterile pad or gauze over the injured site and apply pressure to control bleeding.
Pressure for approximately 3 to 5 minutes and as long as 20 minutes may need to be applied
to stop the bleeding process. After the blood clots and the bleeding has ceased clean the
area with some type of antiseptic and apply some type of antibiotic ointment and then
bandage the area keeping it clean and dry, changing the bandage every day. Pressure points
can also be used and elevating the injured area above the level of the heart is also
another process while applying pressure to try and stop the bleeding from occurring.
I’m Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe and we’ll see you next time.
