Is Expired Medication Safe for My Child?

[Music] Many of us have medication sitting around at home that may have an expiration date long years passed. We wonder can we still use that medication or should I trust that expiration date that’s on my bottle? With that we’re wondering both, is it good anymore and will it hurt me? The answer to that is you really should stick with the expiration date on your bottle because over time medicines will lose effectiveness and they may not work like they should. They also have the potential of potentially becoming harmful. Especially things like- if you’re putting eyedrops in your eye. They can collect bacteria over time and even if the drug is still working okay, you could inadvertently be placing bacteria in your eye which can be harmful. As a rule you really should stick to the expiration dates on your medication bottles and dispose of things after that expiration has passed. [Music]
