Invega is a prescription medication used for
the treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Invega belongs to a group of drugs
called atypical antipsychotics. It may work by changing the activity of certain natural
substances in the brain.This medication comes in an extended-release tablet form and an
injectable form which is given directly into a muscle by a healthcare professional. The
tablet is taken once a day in the morning with or without food. The injection is given
once, then one week later, than every month thereafter. Common side effects of Invega
include drowsiness, weakness, headache, and dry mouth.
