Therapeutic Radiography transcript:
Rebecca Johnson: My name is Rebecca Johnson; I am the course director for the DipHe programme
in Radiotherapy Practice. I am also the admissions tutor for the Therapeutic Radiography programmes.
We run three programmes here, we run a DipHE programme for assistant practitioners, we
run BSc three year full time programme and a two year PgDip programme which will allow
you registration with the HCPC. Our students are very lucky here, they have
a wide variety of different training aspects that we cover. We like to mix up their programmes
so that they spend 50% time here in academic here at the University and 50% time out in
the clinical environment learning the practicalities of radiotherapy out in the work place.
Peter Terry: In terms of modules; year one comprised of a lot of anatomy and we then
learnt a lot of the basic and fundamental physics and everything that we need to know
as an overview of what we need to do. Rebecca Johnson: The clinical placements take
up 50% of their training programme here at LSBU. We send our students to a variety of
different hospitals; we have some of the top London Trusts and we go all over Kent and
all the way down to Surrey as well. Peter Terry: When we go out onto the hospitals
we spend about two months, maybe three months after
